Alfonso Herrera Signs Sony Pictures Television Deal to Develop, Direct and Star in Series

Actor Alfonso Herrera has signed a deal with Sony Pictures Television that expands his work into directing and executive producing while he continues acting in television series, the studio announced. Sony Pictures Television disclosed the agreement during its LA Screenings event for buyers from Latin America.

The agreement marks Herrera's first move into executive producing and directing. Under the pact, he will develop premium series for global audiences in collaboration with Sony's Latin America production team. Carlos Quintanilla Sakar, Sony Pictures Television's Vice President and Head of Content and Production for Latin America and U.S. Hispanic, said the deal will have Herrera executive produce and direct future series. Herrera described the partnership in a statement distributed during the LA Screenings event. He said: "Sony Pictures Television has a very powerful combination: global experience and a real openness to developing stories with local identity. For me, it is a place where I can grow as a creative and where projects can scale organically to international audiences. I am excited to build content with global ambition, while staying connected to our roots." John Rossiter, a Sony Pictures Television executive, commented on the strategic rationale for the arrangement.
