Black Bear is handling international sales on the holiday horror title 'White Elephant' at the Cannes Market, led by Nick Jonas and Kathryn Newton with a supporting cast that includes KJ Apa, Alexandra Shipp, Ashley Park, Justice Smith, Josh Brener, and Madeleine Arthur, according to Deadline.

The Details

The film, directed by Eli Craig, centers on eight friends whose annual holiday gift exchange spirals into a cutthroat competition for a prize that turns deadly. JT Billings wrote the script, with additional writing by Craig.

Context

The production is financed by MRC, with producers drawn from Project X Entertainment (William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, and James Vanderbilt), Powered by Jonas (Spencer Berman and Nick Jonas), and Radio Silence (Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin).

'White Elephant' also marks the first project under MRC's newly formed venture RSPX, a partnership between MRC, Radio Silence, and Project X Entertainment focused on horror and thriller genre projects. Black Bear will represent international sales, while MRC is handling domestic distribution rights.

Jonas was previously announced to star in the film in April 2026, alongside Kathryn Newton. Newton recently starred in 'Ready or Not 2: Here I Come,' which was also produced by Radio Silence and Project X. Craig is known for directing the 2010 horror-comedy 'Tucker and Dale vs. Evil,' and Billings has writing credits including 'Are You Afraid of the Dark?'.

What's Next

The project is launching at the Cannes Market this week as Black Bear begins approaching international buyers.
