Shigeru Miyamoto announced the new release date in a public post on May 13, stating that the live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda would now open worldwide on April 30, 2027, one week earlier than previously scheduled.
In his announcement, Miyamoto said, "This is Miyamoto. I would like to let you know that the worldwide theatrical release date for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda has been moved up to April 30, 2027, from May 7."
He added that the production team is accelerating its schedule, saying, "The team is working hard to deliver the film to everyone as soon as possible. There's less than a year to go until release, so thank you for waiting."
The May 13 announcement marks the second time the film's release date has been adjusted. According to Deadline, the project had previously been shifted from March 26, 2027 to May 7, 2027 for production reasons before this latest one-week advance.
