The makers of Spirit have officially confirmed the film will release worldwide on 5 March 2027 as previously announced, dismissing recent rumours that the project had been pushed back.
The Details
In an official statement issued on Wednesday, the production team said the film is 'very much on track' and there is no change to the release schedule. The announcement follows speculation that the film might be delayed.
Spirit stars Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, and is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film also features Kanchana, Prakash Raj, and Vivek Oberoi in important roles. Prabhas plays a police officer in the film, while Dimri stars opposite him. Dimri came on board after Deepika Padukone exited the project.
Rumours had circulated suggesting the film's release might be pushed to December to avoid a clash with Salman Khan's next film. The official statement directly addressed the speculation, confirming the 5 March 2027 date remains fixed.
Context
Spirit marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, whose previous film Animal starred Ranbir Kapoor and was a blockbuster.
The film's first look poster was unveiled at midnight on 1 January 2026, showing Prabhas in a raw, rugged avatar with visible bruises and intense screen presence. A 'sound story' teaser was released on Prabhas' birthday in October, featuring a tense exchange between a jailer and his assistant about an ex-cop in custody.
Earlier rumours suggested Prakash Raj had walked out due to creative differences, but the actor dismissed them, clarifying he had not even started shooting yet.
What's Next
With the release date confirmed, the film remains on schedule for its worldwide theatrical debut on 5 March 2027. The makers have not shared details on the current filming schedule or completion percentage.
