Four actors who brought the Weasley family to the screen in the Harry Potter film series reunited at Warner Bros Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter in Leavesden, Hertfordshire, on May 6, 2026, to mark the 25th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

The Details

Bonnie Wright, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, and Mark Williams gathered at the Leavesden studios where the Harry Potter film series was produced, marking a quarter-century since the release of the first film in the franchise. Wright, the 34-year-old British actress who played Ginny Weasley, appeared alongside James Phelps, 40, and his twin brother Oliver Phelps, also 40, who portrayed Fred and George Weasley respectively across the eight-film series released between 2001 and 2011. Mark Williams, the 66-year-old British actor who played Arthur Weasley, the family patriarch, also returned for the reunion.

The event coincided with the launch of a new summer exhibition at the studio tour titled 'First Year At Hogwarts – Where The Filmmaking Magic Began,' which opens to the public on May 7, 2026, and will run for four months. Behind-the-scenes filmmakers including head propmaker Pierre Bohanna, make-up artist Amanda Knight, and art director Gary Tomkins also joined the reunion.

Williams said during the event: 'I love coming back to the wizarding world, and the new summer feature is a real delight. It was an enormous part of our experience filming The Harry Potter film series – to be involved with the amazing work of the design department. To be reminded of that has made my day.'

Oliver Phelps said: 'Being back on the set reunited with Bonnie and Mark has been absolutely superb – it's like coming into a time warp, like no time has passed at all since we were last together.'

Geoff Spooner, Senior Vice President of WBD Global Experiences EMEA, said: 'This summer, we're celebrating 25 years since Harry Potter first began his journey at Hogwarts, a story that has enchanted generations, and our new summer feature invites fans right back into the very heart of that magic.'

Context

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was released in 2001 and was the highest-grossing film of that year. It grossed $974 million worldwide during its initial theatrical run and subsequently surpassed $1 billion. The film series spanned eight instalments released between 2001 and 2011.

Warner Bros Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter is a permanent attraction at Leavesden, near Watford, Hertfordshire, on the site of the film studios where the original Harry Potter films were produced.

A survey of 719 adults found that Harry meeting the Weasley family on the way to Platform 9¾ was voted among the top three favourite scenes from the first film, at 29 percent. It placed behind the Hogwarts letter arriving at Privet Drive at 31 percent and the first visit to Ollivanders at 30 percent. The survey methodology beyond the sample size of 719 adults has not been independently verified beyond PA Media wire.

A new HBO Harry Potter television series is currently in production at Leavesden Studios, with a dedicated school approved for cast members.
